We're About to Get Hammered

Post by CudaMan » Fri Jan 11, 2019 11:31 am

The current forecast shows heavy snow starting this afternoon with a possible accumulation of 4-8 inches overnight and an additional 1-3 inches tomorrow. :(

Steve Jelf, your weather usually leads mine by a day, how are the conditions in your area?

Rainy. Forecast is for rain all day and overnight, ending in the morning. Maybe some snow in the wee hours, but it won't amount to much and will be gone quickly. Not cold enough for a real snowstorm.

It's been many, many years since I got hammered.

Here in southern California, we are expecting rain tonight, tomorrow and part of next week. This usually means about 5 days later the eastern part of the country will get rain or snow, so be prepared!

Right along I-70 at the west edge. Raining a good bit right know, expecting it to change over to snow in 3-4 hours. Forecast is 3-7 by tomorrow afternoon. No plans to take the T to coffee in the morning, it will have to wait till next week.

West central Indiana is supposed to get 6-10" of all snow starting tonight about midnight lasting until Sunday morning. My garden tractor with cab and 48" snowblower is ready. Also 4 wheel drive small farm tractor with front end loader and grader blade if needed.

I never worry about the weather forecasts because they are never right any way. I wait until I open the front door to go out and if it's cold I put a coat on, sunny I put sunglasses on, raining I take my umbrella, and if it's dark out I know I got up too early so I go back to bed.

I don't understand why people who live in a climate controlled house, get into a climate controlled car to go to a climate controlled office worry about the weather. Most all my life I have work outside in every kind of weather...ya just hafta grin and bear it!

Perry Kete, I am on your side! Although I do like a coating of snow. It just makes this old world look so nice and clean. It also quiets the sound giving such a crisp clear air that one can hear things one usually cannot. Some in my family have to check weather reports several times every day! Talk endlessly about how "It is 54 degrees outside, it was only supposed to be 53 today"! Like one silly degree makes any difference whatsoever! I go out to get something from the shop, or maybe the newspaper (not wearing a jacket) and come back in three minutes later with a little dampness and they exclaim "Is it raining outside!!!!" (Like it is some incredible event!) I reply "No, THAT is NOT rain, the sky is just dripping a little bit."
Ah, well.

I live right off Interstate 80 in eastern Iowa. Already scooped 4 inches of snow early this morning. Looks like another 3 or so but now the wind is blowing pretty strong. 29 degrees with 20 degree wind chill factor. Plows seem to be waiting till snow stops. Cannot complain cuz it has not been a bad winter in Iowa so far. Mike

Some of you, what I think of as southern folks do get snow! Nice pics! VERY nice pics. :)
Mark, I love pics like that and seeing things like that in my own yard! Steve, you always provide very nice pics! George, lotsa snow!
Shoot. It'll be gone in a couple days yes? Here, we're stingy and keep it longer....
You folks always make me happier than I was a moment ago. :)
Most of the foot of snow we received last week is still here but it sure has sunken a good bit.
Might go out after awhile and grab the oil filter base from the 37 Universal MTA, take it to The Cozy Little Shop and look at the springs inside.
Grabbed the filter, filter housing and housing stem days ago so the path should be clear without Mukluks. :)
OOP! Wrong forum. ;)

Got snow 2.0 last night. Luckily, only about two more inches, so I just used the shovel. Worst part was the half-frozen slushy pile at the end of the driveway that the road crews left behind when they plowed the street. :)
