On second glance, perhaps some sort of spring mechanism in the spokes?

I would bet at least one of those tires survived to this day hidden away in some old barn. The driver, not so much.

Unique body combo.
1911 step side body.
two piece dash.
fore doors that are straight on top..
First time I've seen this combo. On car's with the two piece dash, normally the fore doors would "step down "

Yes, a very unusual combination! Likely after-market fore-doors for the 1911.
Neat car! Wheels and all.
Thank you Tom R! And Pete E.
