Pleasant surprise yesterday

Yesterday we pulled the rear end from my 1916 coupelet that I bought one year ago. The car was restored in the 1970s or 1980s and I wanted to check to see if the thrust washers were babbit or bronze. It turns out they were bronze, the outer grease seals were the modern neoprene type, and it looked as if all was well with the rearend. I will be buying the new lined brake shoes for it as it had the cast iron shoes and I think the additional stopping power could be useful. I was expecting to have to buy a lot more parts. A good surprise is nice now and then.
If they did the rest of the mechanical restoration as well as the rearend, which so far seems to be the case, I will be happy.

You may pass forward your 'pleasant surprise' if you make a little tag or plate and bolt to the rear axle housing, let a future owner know that news. I do.
