Connecting rods

I've had my 24 touring for a couple of months. Heard a little more noise from the crank then I liked so I thought I'd investigate. Henry says there should be a little movement when tapped with a brass hammer, I could get side movement with my hand. Ok, time for Plasti gauge and some shim removal. But looking up the cylinder bores, I see that two rods have the wrist pin clamps bolt on the cam side and two face the other way. Which one is right, and do I turn them around now? Or leave them be?

Don’t worry about that issue!

Wrist pin clamp bolt always goes to the cam side BUT as Les eluded to - too late now if those 2 rods have been run like that on that crankshaft !

Yes, that's what I thought too. Thanks for the confirmation.

Taken apart several T engines for parts and rebuild and seen it done cam side and and the opposite then whatever. Wouldn’t change it now. Re shim as necessary until the next time. Good luck!

I suppose that whoever put Steven's engine together wasn't sure so he decided to be half right. :?
