What would a tank like this been used for and is it of the Model T era?
It has one inlet on top and one outlet on bottom rear. 80 inches long.

Possible hydraulic oil tank from a piece of equipment.

Part of some fire fighting equipment?

This came from a family that was Texaco dealer for three generations

I'm pretty sure it is T era. I have an old oval truck tank that was Texaco. It has 3 compartments, was painted red, and had round Texaco logos about 8" in diameter. It is pre WWII, and it is welded together. I believe the 3 compartments were for gasoline, (large) kerosene, (medium) and motor oil.(smallest)

Yes Pat I have seen them the way you described it. This is a singe large tank with a baffle and one fill hole. The small opening in the top has an air schrader valve in it. I suppose to pressurize the tank.

Ed I love it also. Want to put it on a TT chassis and make a water truck out of it.

Generally speaking, tanks with flat sides and ends are not meant to hold significant pressure or vacuum. A pressure tank will almost always be round with either convex or concave ends. No telling how the Schrader valve came to be in the tank. If you apply pressure to it, I'd suggest limiting the pressure to 5 PSI or less.

2-cyl REOs riveted their gas tanks similarly to that. I always liked rows of rivets too.
