Saw an article on the net for a competition for a new Hot Wheels vehicle. This "1927" (?) Ford is in the competition. Anyone see ANYTHING 1927 on this thing?
From the article:
"Like previous winners (shown in the gallery above), this 1927 Wayne Ford school bus will move on to the Legends Tour's semi-final round that's scheduled for November 1, 2022, and it will compete for the chance to get added to the Hot Wheels diecast catalog."file.php

It looks like the bus body and a few Ford AA parts could be salvaged. The engine might do for a "Rat Fink" style fiberglass psycho-billy T bucket. I can't think of anything rational that could be done with a squatting chassis.

Looks to me like a 1930, but the suspension is not correct. It should be higher from the ground. Who knows what is under the rust???

What an ugly piece of ….! Whoever wrote the article claiming this was a 1927 had no knowledge of what they were writing about. Attempt to park this in your driveway and you would be sited and fined by the city. Jim Patrick

I believe the fun they had building it might justify it. It was fun to see but also sad that it night inspire others to mis-use old parts.
That's the world we live in.
I'm hoping this Forum is a better influence.

The bus is probably sitting on "air bags" . When parked the bags are deflated and the bus is "sitting in da weeds" when ready to go the bags are aired back up and the buss will be at a useable ride height. I like it , but I have a little of the "dark side" in me. Well done rat rods will get more attention at a car show than most of the nice cars. That bus would probably still be sitting in a junk yard on in the woods of an old farm, slowly rotting away to a pile of rust. But now it has another chance at lasting longer.

I'd like to have that bus body on a Diamond T chassis.

I ride the fence on this one. I think it’s cool looking! depending on the state it was in when found would determine it’s fate. Part of my artistic side would love to chop it all up and turn it into a dysfunctional rolling art project. But my sensible side would like it to be a semi original resto mod with a turbo diesel converted into an RV for camping purposes. And finally my dream side it would be 99% original Bus and use it as a classic taxi at the beach or something.

The first pic in this post looks like the body was just set on top of a frame and that was it.
My first thought is it really drivable? If it is drivableit must have air shocks or bags to raise it enough to drive. The blower? manifold looks like it’s just sitting on top of the hood.???

The hood appears to be a ripped open construction. Thou the blower chewed its way up thru. Definitely air bag or hydraulic suspension. I don’t think I see anything from 27 on it. Unless there is a 27 engine block with production number intact in the back seat for good measure

I worked for the Hot Wheels bunch for 14 years before I was retired (layed off with a severance package) at 57 years old. Calling it a '27 doesn't surprise me at all.
The funniest thing I've ever experienced was when one day I was taking a stroll through the Matchbox area, when I noticed a Collector Line car in a box sitting on top of a cabinet outside the cubicle of a friend of mine.
I favor Matchbox cars because that's what I collected when I was a kid. Didn't favor Hot Wheels because the Matchbox cars looked like the cars my dad drove.
I stopped to take a good look at the car in the box because it was a new release. On the box was plainly printed "1936 Lincoln Zephyr Sedan". And proudly displayed in the box was a beautiful Lincoln Zephyr Sedan. A 1938 Lincoln Zephyr Sedan!
I immediately caught the attention of my friend, who was a senior designer with Matchbox, and informed him that the box was wrong. It said 1936, but the car inside was a '38.
He promptly told me that I was full of s#:t. I told him that when it comes to automotive knowledge, I knew quite a bit and that he should have asked me about it. I told him that if he didn't believe me to look it up.
I ran into him a few days later. He stopped me to say "Hey dude, you were right. That is a '38 in the box". I asked him what they planned to do about it. He said that since there were already thousands of them already made, nothing.
Calling that bus a '27 doesn't surprise me. It's lucky they didn't call it a '47.
