Reverse Pedal Support/Cam

There is a camming mechanism that the reverse pedal acts against that is bolted to the hogs head. Snyder's calls it the pedal support. I am losing a nontrivial amount of effective pedal travel because the bolt is lose. Is there a secret way to tighten this bolt that doesn't involve removing the reverse band, pedal, probably more? I can get to the nut on the outside, but can only feel the bolt head on the inside.

Haven't done that, don't think you can reach the hex head of that bolt. Maybe with a long thin screwdriver to wedge against the flats of the hex nut, that might hold the bolt from twisting.

Would try to cut a notch in the end of the bolt to insert a scewdriver blade to hold the bolt as you tighten the castle nut.
Would leave a thin nut or thin set of lock jaw pliers on the bolt shank so it doesn't get pushed into the trans!
Or maybe file or grind flats for a small wrench to hold that bolt from turning as you fasten the nut tight.

Now that bolt has hole for cotter pin, that may now be compromised by modifying the bolt end. You could then use a self locking nut in place of the castle nut and cotter.

Of course the better route is off with the hogshead, and restore/replace all the components while you are at it :)

Take a long box end 12 point wrench, the one that has 9/16” on one end and 1/2” on other. Grind the 9/16 side flat, no rounded left to the bottom opening. You need it square to the world. I have reached them with this but you may have to remove the band. Not sure if you can get in there with band on.
If you want pictures of wrench let know. Dan

Given where the nut is and head thickness, the simplest, quickest way might be to just pull the hog's head. All other options risk dropping something into Pandora's pit and then you'll need to pull the hog's head anyway

A "half moon" box end wrench might reach in there, like a Snap-On CX 1820.

One more thing. Replace the castle nut with a self locking nut, like a modern connecting rod nut. No need for line up of pin hole for split pin.
