When did the wheel manufacturers start using embossed letters on the splice plates? Looking at many of the cars here at the Ford Piquette Plant, I see many of the wheels have no letter at all on the Models A through S. Some other cars have an H (Hayes) or P (Prudden) on the splice plate.

In the "for what it is worth" department, I also have one wheel marked with a "W". No I am not looking at it upside down. Although it was on a T hub when I got it, there were indications that it was not a model T Ford wheel originally. It looks right, size and cut all matches nicely. And it is now nicely painted and ready to install on my car.

P, H and K stand for Prudden, Hayes and Kelsey. Did other companies make wheels for the Ford cars before 1911? From the Model A to the early Model Ts.
