I have a friend with a mid 20's TT he purchased as a non runner with no cab etc. He is slowly working through it and I was explaining about the wooden blocks I had to make to replace the ones I had to destroy to get out and allow access to the vertical mount bolts on 2 of my T's I'm swapping the engines over in.
I learned by my other thread on the block issue that some earlier TT's had no horizontal bolt but had a spring on the vertical bolt.
Anyway he explained his didn't have any wooden blocks , for some reason it wont load a picture on here today no matter how small I shrink it?

Basically it has a flat metal strap going from the top of the vertical chassis mount bolt across to the top bolt of the hogshead just to the side of the mag post.

Sounds like a 1926/7 engine. If so you still need the wood blocks & or the spring type set up l believe.

That strap sounds like the normal 26-7 straps. Bolts thru the HH into the block.

.Look at your 5 June post..”Is there a Need For a Block of Wood At Transmission mount ?” And yes, its obviously a ‘New and Improved’ engine/tranny by your description. I also have a ‘new and improved’ engine in my TT C Cab and it doesn’t have 2 holes in the frame where the horizontal bolt/nut would fasten a wood block inside the frame rails. And it was explained to me by a known and well respected T/TT judge and restorer that Henry didn’t always require wood blocks on TTs.....especially when no frame holes exist...

I can't see any reference to a 26/27 having a metal strap and no wooden block installed in my other post?

Are they installed reversed? Can you post a photo of the crankcase arms and the other end of those brackets?

Reread my comments Kevin. I said your description made me and others believe your engine/tranny to be a ‘26-‘27. Those 2 straps fastening the transmission ‘ears’ to the crankcase arms were introduced for those years. Now look to see if factory holes are in the frame rails for the horizontal bolts/nuts that fix the location of wood blocks. I simply stated my TT doesn’t have these holes and a very respected T/TT researcher and restorer said they didn’t offer these wood blocks on 1 ton trucks..

Ive never seen this vehicle as he lives 6 hours away plus its his first Model T so I'm trying to give guidance where I can.
When I said mid 20's I believe he purchased it as a 24/25, it isn't registered so has no paperwork.
If I get some more pics of the strap I'll post them plus I'll ask if there is a horizontal hole in the chassis.

There is a horizontal hole in the chassis but no bolt so i guess somebody has purchased or made the straps and chose to leave the blocks out.
Its been off the road for years so don't know if or how often its been driven like this.

The first pic looks to be a '26-27 engine block and hogshead. It definitely has the brace from the driver side top hogshead bolt down to the driver side pan ear bolt on the frame flange. The pan ear appears to have a hole in it for the horizontal bolt that would go through a wood block and a hole in the frame rail. Looking at the passenger side top hogshead bolt, it appears that it also has the brace running from the top passenger side hogshead bolt down to the passenger side pan arm bolt that goes through the frame flange. From what I can see, this vehicle ought to have bolt holes in the frame and both pan ears for the horizontal bolts that secure the wood blocks. (Or springs)

I don't know if they are original "New Beauty" crankcase support arms. They are attached correctly as there is just enough of the bolt head to show it attached to the transmission mount
