Hello All!

I'm brand new to the forum. This is my first post.

I have a 1925 Coupe that I inherited from my grandad. It has been in a barn for the last 20+ years and I'm working on getting it back in running condition.

First thing to address is the tires. I've recently ordered the tires and tubes, however, the tubes that were shipped to me are 440/550-21 instead of 440/450-21.

My question is, can I use these tubes in the 4.4/4.5-21 tires?

Thanks and looking forward to gaining some valuable knowledge on this forum.

Never saw 440/550 before, but that just means the tube will fit a 440 up to 550, they stretch and baloon, so, yes a 440/550 tube will work fine in a 440/450-21 tire which you have.

Yes, those tubes will fit in, I hope, new tires. Welcome to the Forum and world of Model T s Dan ...You’ll have a lot of learning opportunities ahead of you on the way to enjoying sheer fun with that coupe. As examples: proper operation of split rims, ensuring you don’t have babbitt thrust washers in the rear end and the joys of lubrication. There’ll be helpful instructional manuals to buy and I’d recommend framing a lubrication chart you’ll get from your favorite vendor in your first order. Others will chime in to fill in the blanks 😁

Be careful when removing not to destroy the old tubes! They are probably better than the new ones! They will hold air for years where the recent ones need filling quite often. The latest that sound to be very good are Blokey.

Thanks for all of the replies. I found someone who would mount the tires and I should get them back today. I’ll post pics with the new “shoes”.

Looking forward to really getting into this!
