How is this mounted?
Looking at the mount on this horn. Why does it have a recessed cup? Is it supposed to sit on a spring?

Not everything was made to fit a Model T. Maybe suitable for some other make & model?

I agree with Jerry. Been looking for one to fit a bracket that's on a 1922 touring car.

Re: How is this mounted?
You are missing the rest of the bracket assembly.
That particular set-up has an additional bracket that screws into the door sill. Then, you attach the horn to the "permanent" bracket on the sill with a single bolt and nut or wing nut.
It's designed that way to prevent theft. It allows you to easily detach the horn and take it with you, if so desired.
