100th Birthday Ride for WWII vet- Elkhart IN

Post by Tbird » Mon Jun 27, 2022 2:21 pm

I was contacted by a lady that lives in Elkhart IN that is looking for someone to give her dad a ride in a Model T for his 100th birthday. I would gladly do it except my car is being restored right now (Not running). Perhaps there is some guys local in the area that could do this? He walks with a walker but can get up and down. The Birthday party is set for September 25th. The plan is to pick him up at the assisted living center at Hubbard Hill in Elkhart IN and drive him to downtown Elkhart to a venue called "Our Place" 5 miles down the road.

This is her original message:
Hi folks!! My Dad is celebrating his 100th birthday in September right here in Elkhart where we were raised. His first family vehicle was a model T somewhere between 1924 to 28. I wondered if anyone here would be willing to pick him up at Hubbard Hill and drive him to the venue for his celebration on Main St in Elkhart? We will pay a fee for your service! What an awesome surprise for him to ride in style!! Thanks in advance!! Let’s give this WWII VETERAN his wish!!!!!

If you can help or know of someone who can please get in touch with me and I'll pass on her information to you.
Thanks

Mike Bird

I did that once upon a time and it was a huge thrill .....for me! This fellow was born in 1919 and his daughter heard that I have a 1919 centerdoor and she asked if he could have his picture made next to it. Well, we went for a 20 minute ride and he became a little melancholy. Many more Model T s up there in Indiana. Two people will really receive a blessing 😁🙏

A few yearts back I give a 95 old friend a ride in my 1910. He was born in June 1910 and my T was "born" March 8, 1910.

I would be glad to help with the ride but I regret that I already have a previous commitment for that date. :( Wondering if Dallas is available.
