Anyone here have a description AND a very good and clear picture what the rear curtain or rear top straps look like and how they attach to the body and to the rear bow on a true 1919 touring. Also what material these straps are made of, the width and thickness and also their length.
Thank you!

Here is a link to a thread from the Old Forum:

The photo above is from page 285 of Model T Ford (McCalley), and there is also a nice photo of an original set of straps on page 276. They should be black, woven cotton webbing, and I believe they are 1" in width and I have the same question as to their length.

I’m installing a new top on my ‘16 and two 3” wide straps sewn out of three layers of top fabric were included. The Encyclopedia is not clear as to when Pep’s straps were discontinued in favor of the later straps

I removed the original straps from my 1919-1920 touring. At least I think they are original. They are hanging on the garage wall. If you would like I would send them to you. Let me see if I can get my camera out and take a photo.
I shrunk them and I still get the stupid yellow triangle. Send me an e-mail and I will send them to you. Or if someone can get them to work, I will send them out and they can post them here.

The late RV Anderson manufactured fairly faithful reproductions of the front and rear black cotton webbing straps complete with hardware. The webbing is thicker and has a coarser weave than factory originals.
They are available from Lang's.

RV Anderson made-up a set of straps for my father's 1917 touring. However, my dad gave him the original factory hardware from his car (D-rings, buckles, hooks, etc.) so the only thing that is new is the webbing, the metal end-caps and the rivets. The rest is original factory.
Note, original rear straps are just long enough to pass through the buckles. The strap in shown in Joseph's post is too long and a waste of webbing.
I'm going to bed but, if I remember, I'll post some photos tomorrow.
