I assume it's easier to make a 24-Z-2393 than to find one. Anybody have the measurements?

How about the 24-Z-2390 for checking the tube? I'm not really clear on how that's supposed to work.

When I rebuilt my Holly G, I found the test jig setup outlined in the MTFCA carburetor manual to be most helpful. Being able to observe the "puddle" is the best way to set float level; a gauge measurement is a rough starting place. As well, if you are using a newfangled composite float, its buoyancy is markedly different from the original cork, making a measured setting moot.

Here are details. Complete overhaul instructions of the G and NH with illustrations are from June 1924 Ford Owner and Dealer magazine. Shows a set of tools for both but not all have dimensions. Below excerpts are from page 71 and 72 in this magazine.

Is it online anywhere? Cimorelli has some of the magazines, but not that one.

Adding to what Rich said about modern floats:
Stan Howe posted that modern floats should be cut down to the size of original cork ones. I found the new float easy to shape using fine sandpaper on a flat surface. My car runs good with the puddle about 3/32, made a tool like pictured.

Good advice Jay ! I shaped my new float to match the original cork the same way. Since most of my "wrenchin'" is on a Fred Flintstone level I found it easier to "eyeball" the level, the meniscus confuses me !

Royce and his website are a vastly underutilized resource for our hobby. And that is a real shame.

It is long on real information and not opinion, with a wealth of topics and excellent pictures/illustrations. Where a statement is made that IS opinion it is almost always identified as such so that the reader may contemplate the veracity of it...otherwise you can pretty much take the advice to the bank. It's all well thought out, executed and documented.

If you ever read this, Royce, thank you.
