Anyone here going to the Long Beach meet tomorrow?

Haven't missed one in about 35 years!

Just arrived at the hotel and looking forward to seeing everyone at this annual "Gathering of the Faithful".

Please be sure to post plenty of pictures of the event. I purchased a T from a vendor after the event, after seeing pictures right here on the forum.

I drove my '25 this morning. Wasn't worth the drive!

Original Smith must have went to the wrong swap meet!

Once again, the Long Beach Model T Club's "Gathering of the Faithful" did not disappoint!

I had great luck today. Found an original 1911 Torpedo horn, a large early aluminum Winfield carburetor and a nice large bore Miller/Master carburetor.

Also found some other goodies both Ford and early "Brand X" parts and some nice literature.

There was a nice selection of parts of sale and most were reasonably priced. It was mostly all prewar stuff. There was a lot of good Model T parts for sale as well as a nice selection Model T, A/B speed equipment, automobilia and lots of other NOS (Neat Old Stuff). There were also some interesting cars and projects for sale. The vendor turn out was very good and it looked like there was a lot of swapping going on. Everyone I talked to was very pleased.

Thanks to the Long Beach Model T Club for keeping this great tradition alive and well. It takes a lot of volunteer work to put on an event like this and the LBMTC does it well.

Already looking forward to next year!!!

Like always, the Long Beach folks put on a good meet. Saw a few interesting items (KR Wilson tools, NOS parts, etc.). Several nice cars were there as well. Enjoyed talking to old friends.. Looking forward to next year. Saw this nice ride upon arrival.

My sons and I attended the swap meet. Had a great time.

We did very well today, well worth the drive. Saw neat cars and parts, met up with friends we don’t see up our way, and bought good stuff. My biggest score was a nice set of reamers for all the transmission bushings. Promises to save much time over the Sunnen honing machine. The Mercury speedster was very cool, I planned to get a better look at it but it disappeared before I finished our first sweep of the meet. There were deals to be had on T’s and parts. We will be back. There were two KRW rod alignment fixtures there. I have never seen one for sale. One of the guys had spare “sea lion” gauge tools for them that are often missing. There was a crazy amount of KRW and other brand machine tools for T bearings, engine and rear end work. A complete, albeit rusted, 1914 engine could be had for $25. No takers.

There were literally tons of great deals yesterday, and literally tons of parts changing hands, so I believe there were more happy customers and vendors than unhappy ones. As I stood by the exit yesterday, I had nothing but positive comments from everyone leaving. As I walked the meet and spoke with vendors, almost everyone was pleased. I had two vendors tell me that they wouldn't be back, neither was selling vintage car parts, one was selling big block Chevy racing parts! Go figure.

There are some original hobbyists who will say that the swap meet is not the same as it was 60 years ago, but then what is? Back then, Model T's were just 30 to 40 year old used cars! You could still find new parts at many Ford dealers, Sears, Montgomery Wards, Pep Boys, Western Auto, and J.C.Whitney. The swap meets were filled with parts, and young guys buying and selling them. Maybe if some of those once young guys would become vendors and sell some of their hoard that they will never use, swap meets would once again be "worth the drive."

As many people know, mainly because I've told them, I was in your shoes 22 years ago. I was much younger then and didn't have a coronary bypass under my belt.
I said it yesterday and I meant everything I said. You and the Long Beach Model T Club crew did an outstanding job. We used to have two days of fun at Veterans Stadium and then at Cerritos College, then back to Vet's. When I was the main parts exchange complaint reciever, I would sleep on a cot under the registration booth canopy (my choice). I recall one Friday night a vendor rolled in around 1:00 am wanting to buy a space right there and then. I looked at the layout for an open space, gave him a windshield card, and said "I'll see you after sun up to collect the fee. Good night".

Was a great swap meet with lots of really good parts at reasonable prices. Exceptional KRW items. I missed the seal for the rod fixture and passed on a $200 price for a nice KRW rod checking fixture. Many complete sets of wire spoke wheels that were super nice. Enjoyed meeting old friends and sorry I missed others. The weather was perfect and worth the drive!

Thanks Jeff and LB club! I bought some good stuff and enjoyed seeing some old friends. Thanks for keeping this event going! Someday, maybe even cranky old Smith will find something.
