According to Snyder's antique Auto parts website listing today, they do have a muffler available.

An "original" would have consisted of the mandrel bent long exhaust pipe which it's length made up the inner baffle, then the middle shell & finally the outer shell with the pressed steel caps & a single mounting tab. Original Smith had some quite correct long pipes made up a few years ago & one could utilize the original ends.

Zoom in on the picture I posted. Look at the muffler, only has one place to bolt to frame. Pipe is also the one long pipe. This is an original. Person that got has talking about reproducing them. Let him chime in if he wants. Here is pictures of the muffler ends.

Brackets to the frame on both ends of the muffler would have been a lot better, even Ford wouldn't save that money... Both muffler ends are in the last picture, the front end cap does not have an attaching bracket.... The original exhaust pipe ran to the muffler, inserted and limited by a flange, this way all the twisting of the frame from road conditions didn't pull the pipe out of the muffler. No clamp was used at this point.

The photo that Dan posted is correct, and the rear bolt is all that is needed. I don't know why the original style exhaust pipe can't be reproduced. If Ford could do it why can't Snyders? I had about 50 made several years ago, and everyone seemed happy.

The one point mounting on the rear muffler end coincided with the dropping of the cast iron ends on the muffler. It would have been a cost saving measure, while being a backward step in serviceability.

The difficulty reproducing the later exhaust pipes is how to make the upset in the pipe, up to which the front muffler end is held. The Canadians found a much simpler solution. They simply drilled the pipe and fitted a large split pin through it. The muffler end, with a slight relief to match the pin simply jammed against it. They also riveted a deflector over the hole in the rear end to direct the exhaust towards the ground.

The last design exhaust pipe and muffler started in 1921. and went to the end.
