Found 1915 town car remains so many questions

Post by Tracer » Tue Apr 16, 2019 9:20 pm

I picked up a town car yesterday or what remains of it. The rear doors and windscreen are in very good condition. I know lots are missing but a great start
Who are the town car experts ? I have many questions
How much of a tourer is the same as a town car clearly the firewall and cowl are. What about the main timber sills ?
Cheers

Nice find. I don't think there are very many sheet metal parts from a touring that can be used on the town car, unfortunately. In particular the quarter panels and rear panel are unique to that body style (see pic.) Not the step on the very bottom. It looks like you've got most of the hard parts like the doors and the windshield. Good luck with your project, please keep us posted on your progress.

By any chance, do you think the original drawings are still available from Ford? Dimensions would be priceless for a project like this if sheet metal has to be formed.

Hello,
nice find. I have just bought a 1916 Town Car with right hand steering. I am the 3.owner. Car was originally sold too Argentina. There it was bought from the family of the original owner in good shape by a german engineer who brought it back to Germany restored it in the end of 1970. Car is now in Austria.
If you need pictures i will try to help you. On the other hand my car has lost the upper windshield. Would you be so kind and give me close up pictures and measurements of this part.
regards
towncar 16

Thomas, (towncarr16). I sent you an email. In case you don’t see it, look in your spam folder, new emails end up there usually. Congratulations on your great find. Frank Seress

The '15 town car picture above, looks like the one in Wayne Erickson's shop.
