My Rajo head is coming along but they asked me what they should set the valve guide clearance to. It’s got iron guides and they were thinking 2/1000 for the intake and 2.5/1000 for the exhaust. Frankly I have no idea. What have others used?

The photo shows the head assembled with very light springs so they could check the valve wipe by hand.

That would be fine for a vintage overhead, particularly if the top end is not pressure oiled, but not much more than that to control oil getting past the stems with no seals.

Early Chev inlet .0005 to .0025" and exhaust .002 to .004" so maybe a 1/2 thou tighter on your inlets.
