Three Questions

I have questions about three items on my 1927 coupe.

1) I want to replace the rubber bumpers for my truck lid. I assume the way to remove the existing bumper is to drill it out.
How difficult is it to insert the new one? Any trick to use to do it?

2) I would like to replace the rubber bumpers that the bottom of the door glass rests on, but it looks like that would be very difficult. I looks like it is attached by some type of rivet. Any suggestions how to do it? I may just reuse the bumper. It looks OK.

3) I lost some of the small square nuts for bolts that attach items to the frame around the door glass. Are these available? I need eight.

The square nuts may not be available locally these days, but you should be able to buy them by size online. Depending on prices and shipping, it may be better to buy 50 or 100.

Lang’s sells interior screw sets with nickel plated square nuts and counter sunk oval headed screws. The photograph shows the set for the interior of a 1926-27 coupe. I recall the set I ordered back in 1972 for my 1926 coupe contained a lot more screws and nuts so you may need to order several sets in order to do the entire interior. I recently found a complete interior screw set sold by Snyder’s, but I could not find it tonight.

The original 95 year old rubber bumpers on your T are as hard as rock, so will not provide a cushion for the glass or cushion of noise absorption for the trunk lid, so will need to be changed. I could not find a window cushion at Lang’s but they have solid rubber bumpers that can be cut to size. I have also included the trunk bumper available at Lang’s. The old one will have to be chiseled off and the new one put in its’ place. Jim Patrick

I have new bumpers for the doors. My problem is how to remove and replace them. They appear to be riveted in place.
