Model T Radiators

Post by Unprr » Sun Aug 07, 2022 9:13 pm

I’m looking to replace my low style radiator but can’t believe the wait time. Has anyone found a faster provider.

No one in Nebraska does that. A local shop tried to fix the leaks, with little improvements. Have you used a shop. I’m willing to ship.

Try contacting these guys. I've used them before, they have a veteran employee well versed in antique radiators. They just may be able to help.

While your waiting to get your radiator repaired, if possible, I would order a new one. Turnaround time could be a month or more and then if its not repairable you lost even more time in getting one. If it is repairable you will have no trouble in selling either one and getting your money back.
The past is a great place and I don't want to erase it or to regret it, but I don't want to be its prisoner either.

Have you tried Snyders, their online catalog doesn’t show low radiators out of stock. I was able to buy a low round tube from them a few months ago and got it in California in about a week.

I think these guys are old enough to know what they're doing. They say yes, they do recores. I've had them make other repairs, and those were fine.

Just went to Snyder’s and it appears they do have them. I will call them in the morning before ordering.
Thanks for all the replies.

I feel your pain, George. Benson Radiator closed a few months before I bought my leaky T. They were my shop of choice since the 1970's. I went to the other radiator shop you mentioned and got the same response as you. I bought a Brassworks radiator and I'm totally satisfied.

If your T is a show car I would buy a round tube, but if it's a driving/touring car I would hold out for a flat tube radiator.

I hope you find what you need. Good radiator shops are getting harder and harder to find, the owners of the old shops are retiring and OEM technology has moved on to aluminum cores with plastic tanks. :(

It’s getting later than we think in finding people who have the basic skills that we grew up with and around in old machinery, old radiators and working on older technology.
Go to most new car dealerships and if you drove up in a 60’s era car wanting a set of points put in the distributor they would would have to contact an engineer to learn how to do it.

Setting the points would be impossible because they probably wouldn’t have a feeler gauge in their tool box. 😳

I have a 2010 Toyota Tundra I bought new from the local Toyota dealership and took it back to them because of a dying and starting issue. They took about 1 1/2 hrs to tell me it was a battery issue after giving me a tech sheet of the tests they had made. The battery was replaced 6 months before and they were told I would contact them if anything else occurred. 🤔
The next day there was nothing when I hit the switch so I wiggled the battery connection and it started and died. Checked the battery clamp and it was slightly loose so I tightened it up and all is still good almost 4 years later.

Sorry for the thread drift BUT———————

This is why I don't believe in the plot theory of history. A successful vast conspiracy would depend on a sudden, widespread outbreak of competence. :)
