I'm trying to get parts to install a speedo on my '14. I have a decent looking "Standard Speedometer" head but it has no main input drive, I already have a nice correct cable, a nice 2.5:1 swivel and the correct steering arm with the hole for the mount. I'm confused as to the correct swivel drive ratio for the "Standard" , (either 2.5:1 or 1:1 ). I would also be interested in another working head that takes the 2.5:1 swivel drive. I also need the "S" mounting bracket. I'll be in Hershey (GAG 27-28).

Besides Russ, you could try placing an ad in the classifieds. Not everyone reads both, some only the classifieds.

Standard speedometers are not usually in very good condition, nor were they used in 1914. Your best bet is to buy a copy of Russ Furstnows speedometer book to see what is proper for your car.

Thanks Larry; I have Russ' book and apparently the "Ford Specials" were introduced in '14 and they all take a 1:1 swivel, and I've never even seen one, (or the mounting hardware). The pics in his book are not really clear. Stop by my spot at Hershey if you get a chance and we'll talk T's (GAG 27-28). Bruce

Thanks Russ: All I have is your book (62 pages). Can you post a picture of the swivel/mount I need?? If you are going to Hershey I'll look you up and go from there. I can bring what I have for your inspection and maybe buy whatever I need to fill the gaps. Bruce

Here are some photos of the Ford Motor Company speedometer parts (commonly known as the "Ford Special"). The first attachment is from the "Price List of Accessories and Accessory Parts" dated February 1915. The remainder of attachments are photos of the drive and cable. The road gear is a 35T8P gear that fits onto the Ford machined hub. I hope this helps. Russ Furstnow

I'm sure Russ will agree with me on this one, but only the late 1914 models used the new 1-1 speedometers.
