NOS parts are still out there

I got these today out of an attic along with some carburetors and other parts. The tabs that hold the glass have never been bent. The paint is shiny original black. They’re going on my 23 touring I’m building.

Nice!
Are the carburetors NOS too?

No I wish! There was some nos cowl light brackets and some take off steering gear case covers though.

In Moose Lake, MN when I was a boy, there was a grocery and adjacent shoe store that had last operated in the 1950s. When we went to town I'd try to spend some time peeking in the windows, looking at the ancient packages of Coco Wheats, bottles of 7up and Wisk laundry detergent. It was owned by a couple of spinster sisters who ran it in the ground after their father passed away. One day they closed it and never opened it again.
I sometimes imagine there is an old Ford dealership out there like that, a bricked off room that's discovered during demolition, stacked to the rafters with the motherlode of parts. It's fun to dream!

Just curious but was the attic in a private residence, old business, garage or?
Those NOS headlight rims are nice. When they were shipped to a dealer I guess they were ready to go on the car since they were already painted and not repainted.
Probably in those days they weren’t so paticular like we are today about matching the paint exactly since it was a T. But maybe.

They are maybe some still out there. Back in the early 2000’s I got a bunch of NOS parts out of a Ford dealer that closed in 1928. It had been locked up since the man that started died in 28. Son said no one in after that. He passed and Grandson was cleaning it out to sell. Got a lot of nice things. 13/14 NOS dash, set of NoS Kelsey # 88 rims, set of NOS Firestone rims, Spare tire carriers bunch of rear end parts, front end parts and 2 1/2 gals of new pinion bearing bolts. Even a box in attic that had someone’s engine parts in it. Left with a pickup load, all nos.
Gold is where you find it. Dan

I was happy to find these when I did. I wish the box had been full.

Rich. Were the plated nuts in the box when you bought it? Did Ford use plated nuts?
They sure look nice. Are they NOS that haven’t tarnished over the years?

John, The nuts are bare steel. I'm pretty sure that was original. He had cleaned out an old dealers stockroom. I'm not sure if they were original Ford or aftermarket but look just like my old originals. A thin coat of glossy paint was on them. This fellow had quite a lot of new/old parts but most have been sold. He also had some of these radius rod ball sockets as well as some crankcase front end supports.

You have to look close at those NOS parts.
They were often left on the shelf because they were not quite right or returned from a customer.

You know, I have heard so many people say this over the years but I or my dad have yet to run into a bad NOS part for any of the cars either of us have done. Nothing was out of spec or snapped in half. Personally, I liken this to people saying that tool boxes will tip over if you leave one too many drawers open... just my opinion.
