transmission bands
Hello
I would like to renew the belts on my 1926 Model T. Reverse, clutch and brake
Is ok as Kevlar material? Snydersnumber T-3416-DK
And my question is which special tools do I really need for this?
And do I have to dismantle the top of the gearbox or go through the service flap to change the tapes?

Re: transmission bands
If you have been taught to drive a T correctly, Kevlar is the way to go.
The best investment you can buy for a T is the Model T Ford service book, that gives you a very good step by step in all the repairs.
As for tools, a band changer can make the job easier for T's that are fitted with removable band ears, again, best to work with the service book.

Re: transmission bands
If you don't have removable ears on the bands, the cover (hogshead) has to come off.

with Kevlar, it is most imperative that your bands be perfectly round and not have any areas that drag on the drums. It is handy to have a spare scrap drum to check against.

Scott
I did first the outside rivets than push the band with hand back so long that it is nicely and without any bubbles and hobbles
Then I put the other rivets starting in the middle and working 2 ways out to the end, I follow the users manual who come with the band.
To bend the rivets correct I bought also the red tool on the picture.
Lets hope I did it well... but the feeling is good on this moment.
Now first solve my timergear problem the gear was for 2 weeks in border transit to holland..

Re: transmission bands
OK thanks
then I take kevlar
which service book do you think?
got all from snyders (engine, transmission, axle, electric)
or is that another one again?
Something stupid happened to me
wanted to stop the brake band before the meeting, then my mother and disc fell in the gear .... it had to solve it completely because the spring has always twisted and did not stay in position.
Now I've had the salad, could not drive to the meeting, then have another mother on it have turned the starter and turned, then it eventually blocked gently, think the mother or disc hangs in a gear!
really shit!
Hope I find the mother and disc if I have to change bands anyway.
Do you think I find you when the whole housing is down from the gearbox?

Don't totally understand what you ment but as far i think your writing is that the nut and the ring is falling into the gearbox and now they blocked the engine.
If thats what you mean the nut or the ring is sitting somewhere I think on the magnets, try to turn the engine backwards, all by hand and carefully, but for sure you have to get them out both, the damage they will give you is horrible if they stay there.
At the end now maybe you have to take off the hogshead( cover) of the transmission, I don't know if you can do that without taking out the engine....
But other people will tel you
Succes Bert

Re: transmission bands
YES
The mother and the disc fell on top of the gear cover, slipped out of my hands
I could not get her with a magnet,
think nothing is broken because it is easily blocked, starter is very slow.
Hope you get out if I make the gear cover housing down
I really wanted to leave the engine inside

Re: transmission bands
Take all the oil auth and go with a service camera in the transmission, you can buy these cameras not so expensive, with a few on your cellphone, you have to find all the parts first, maybe if you take out the bands you have a bit more space
Don't try to start the engine before!!!!

Re: transmission bands
Judging from the grammar structure, I'm fairly certain the op is German. Mutter is one of the german words for nut so I assume the nut and washer went ker-plunk into the transmission. After trying to turn the engine over to get the nut out, the engine is jammed up.
