Faultless or Bulldog Race - Bit of a Long Shot
I know this is a bit of a long shot but are there any measured drawings of the wood frame for one of these? Or a repo someone has done?

Contact Jim Starkey. He did a fantastic job for me and uses quality material. Highly recommend him!

Re: Faultless or Bulldog Race - Bit of a Long Shot
I have an original Faultless bodied racer that campaigned the board tracks in the Eastern US.
Other than the body being painted a couple of times it retains its original wood framing.
You can see the closely spaced nails that connect the tail to the main body section.
It also has its original grill shell which sits slightly higher than a Model T shell.
This gives the car a "bigger" look like the original advertising images show.
Which measurements were you specifically looking for?

Harry,
Can you post some pictures for us? I would really appreciate it since I am in the early stages of assembly.

Hi
I have this pic from an older discussion around 2010 if memory serves. I drew some black lines and white lines those are the type of dimensions I am looking for plus the heights but what was posted so far is great thanks

A nice original just sold in Illinois about a month ago. Sadly, I saw the ad too late as it had already been sold.

Re: Faultless or Bulldog Race - Bit of a Long Shot
From what I understand there were variances in the Faultless bodies.
One is width; mine appears to be the narrow bodied version.
The second is the crown on the cowl. the green and cream coloured one in the images above has quite a rounded cowl.
This is similar to mine. The others have a flatter styled cowl.
I have some images of my car but have not been successful in posting them.
I can email images if someone would like to see certain aspects of my car.

Here are the pictures of Harry's fantastic speedster! He has some great accessories, which I will ask him to describe for us.
Send me more pics and I will post them.

Re: Faultless or Bulldog Race - Bit of a Long Shot
I'm in the early stages of a speedster (read, dreaming/planning). This is one of those odd moments when the real item looks far better than the original artist depiction! Nice cars........very nice indeed.

Re: Faultless or Bulldog Race - Bit of a Long Shot
Thank you Randy for posting the pictures.
We had a fire in our home recently and my internet service has not been fully restored.
The first picture shows the height of the original grill shell above a 27 radiator.
It was designed to make the car look larger and more impressive. You got your $38 worth when you bought this body new.
You can also see the ROOF Type C 16 valve engine and E&J 20 headlights.
The second picture shows the cowl profile and narrow body.
This cowl has a much rounder profile than many and transitions nicely to the grill shell.
As a board track racer the car never had side skirts or a hood. It didn't need lowering because of the high bank on the board tracks.
The rumble of those split, straight through pipes have actually blown a picture off the wall in my garage when I started it up.
If there is other information that I can provide please let me know.

Harry,
Glad to help. This new message board has really made posting pictures painless.
I really like the looks of the E&J headlights! They are very appropriate for our type of speedster. Do you have any of the history of the car and
what it looked like prior to your restoration? Would love to see some pictures of the engine. Send me some pics and I will post them.

Re: Faultless or Bulldog Race - Bit of a Long Shot
When you look closely at the grill shell you can see that it is not symmetrical.
The opening is bigger on one side. The guy cutting the pieces was not the sharpest cutter.
I could of corrected it but left it as the original. The shell is actually made from seven separate pieces.
From its racing days it had taken a lot of abuse before I restored it.
All of the body work is pick and file along with leaded seams. I wanted it solid.
The bottom picture is the Type C ROOF.I lubricate the valve train with pure castor oil.
This is done on start up and then about every 100 miles.
I have tried other combinations of lubricants but come back to this.
One of the Lubriplate high tacking oils that I use in my 810 Cord CV joints works well, but the castor oil doesn't fly around as much.

Re: Faultless or Bulldog Race - Bit of a Long Shot
I measured the body at its widest point and it is just over 34 inches at the upper body(just ahead of the seat).
I would guess it is under 33 inches at the wood base as the body slants slightly outward toward the top.
