Thanks

Tom, What is wrong with it. Rebuilding usually consists of cleaning, a new float needle and seat and new gaskets. If the shafts are not worn, usually a good cleaning and air blow will make the old zeniths run fine. IMHO the old solid float needles are better than the replacements. The only wearing parts are the shafts and the float needle.

I have done all the cleaning as before and the carb runs fine with the exception of idle. Coming to a stop, engine dies every time. It was running great and just starting doing this the first of the week. Got to be a piece of crud maybe, but cleaning has not corrected it. I’m going to do a compression check tomorrow just to eliminate that as a cause. The idle circuit seems to be the issue.

Doing a compression check will be instructive I suppose...but it won't provide any information at all, relative to stalling when coming to a stop

it sounds like one of two things: your idle jet is still partially restricted and based on that assumption, it is time to remove jets again and give things a prolonged ultrasonic cleaning followed by reassembly and adjustment; or, your float level is maladjusted.

A third, though less likely problem is a slight vacuum leak at the mounting flange (or the motor). When the fuel surges in the bowl, the jets can see the fuel level drop...combined with a leak at high vacuum, you can go suddenly and temporarily quite lean.

here is a very good explanation of how Model A-B carbs work, including all circuits: http://modelabasics.com/carberutor.html

Tom, I sold you two. Who rebuilt those carbs? I thought you did. What happened?
