Made some tail light brackets
I wanted to put brake and tail lights on my 22 runabout pickup but I wanted them to look period. I bought some of the aftermarket lights then converted them to take the two contact T headlight sockets. I then made up a couple of mounts to screw to the bottom of the bed. I don’t think it looks too bad.

Beautiful, looks like something out of an old catalogue. Always enjoy seeing creativity and attention to detail!

Thanks, looking like they could have been bought out of a period catalogue was the point. This is what the mounts looked like before some bending, welding, and grinding.

Re: Made some tail light brackets
Very nice. I particularly like the rounding to look like a cast bracket.

Re: Made some tail light brackets
I finally got them on the truck yesterday. I am still running the wiring and installing the switch.

Re: Made some tail light brackets
Here are some pictures of the lights wired. I installed an electrical block under the bed. The wires under the bed are held on with stainless clips and screws. I made wire holders using rubber grommets and safety wire to hold the wires going forward. There are some spots on the block under the bed I can use if I ever installed turn signals. It looks pretty tidy to me and period.

Well thought out, very creative period recreation!
One further thought before you button it up? Buy a foot or two of tar covered cloth conduit loom for the wire loops on the lights? Would really take it over the top for sure. Think I got mine from Renovators Supply?
Crappy picture but shows the loom cover from light to under body.

Very nice ! They certainly look period correct.
I'm still puzzling over a way to mount the Jno. Brown kerosene tail lamp for my '13 Lizzie pickup. Seems like any arrangement puts it in harm's way.

Thanks. I have several rolls of the old style of electrical tape and I used it under the clips to protect the wires. Not a bad idea to get some of the old cloth/tar cover for the wires to the lights.George Mills wrote: ↑Thu Oct 20, 2022 10:35 amWell thought out, very creative period recreation!
