This photo of my 1910 and I was taken in 1948 at our home on Morgan Ave. South in Richfield MN. I was 16 at that time. I bought the T in September of 1946 from the Pure Oil Co. in Minneapolis. It was a former "parade car". They had brought it 1931 in Chicago,IL. I was painted yellow and had Pure Oil decals on each door. It had 1942 license plates on it when I bought it. I was only 14 and did not have a driver's license, but that did not stop me from driving. At 90, I have owned my 1910 for 76 years. Is that a record? If not, it must be close to it.

They do have yellow clown makeup if you are interested.

Well never say never. There is a collector in my local club who purchased his Stanley in 1948 as well. And its still in his garage today, but likely doesn't see as much use as the T.

So perhaps we can call it a tie...........

I got my first antique at 18 also and its still in the garage. But I have a long way to yet to approach both of their achievements. But the goal is there.

They say that driving a Model T makes people live a lot longer!

I am curious as to what you paid for the 1910?
I used to work with a, retired but still working, guy who told me he’s bought T Models for $10 and $15 and drove them home.

Darel is a Model T legend ! He's been an inspiration to Model T enthusiasts for generations. It's much more than a competition based on longevity - it's a life-long dedication !

I, too, acquired my first Model T at the age of 14, but lacking Mr. Leopold's fidelity to the breed, it turned into many things before one owned me once again. I'm pleased to know that my first Model T went into hands more capable than mine, and I've been privileged to have been able to follow its career the past fifty-six years.

I wonder how many fourteen year olds have fallen under the spell, and have "kept the faith" ?

As for T prices. Dad (1921-2009) told a story about a TT that was passed around his classmates at Arthur Hill Trade school in Saginaw Michigan in 1938. The last time it changed hands, the price was two dollars. It was running and driving.

The snapshot posted by Darel was taken in the fall of 1948 by Howard Evers, a friend of my father since their days at Minneapolis Washburn High School.

A few weeks ago, Howard, who is now 91 years old, gave my father that snapshot and a few others of Darel's Model T taken that same day in 1948. My father had also taken photos with his own Brownie Reflex camera that same fall day which I had posted on the forum last year. Refer to this thread:

I scanned all of the photos to a disc and gave it to Darel last Saturday at Mark and Sheri Cameron's swap meet.

I have a local Model T'er who has had his '16 Touring for 62 years. I already knew when I met him that Darel had him beat.

I sure think that's some sort of record! Even if its just a personal one. Do you have a picture of the car now? You could do a then and now shot.

I paid $125 for the 1910 at that time. I had $75 saved and my father gave me $50.The next year I had the opportunity to buy an even better one for the same price, but the car was in Greely CO and my father did not want me to drive it to Minnesota. I will post a recent photo of my 10.

According to the inflation calculator, $125 in 1946 equals $1902.00 in 2022.
Comparatively, there are probably nice 1986 model cars available for around two thousand, but it's just not the same at all, is it ?

this is a photo of my 1910 and myself. We had just installed the engine after replacing the field coil. Friends helped me to adjust the engine. I am standing back of the T. It ran very nice on the new coil. I was only 88n at that time.

Here is my 1910 at the Twin City Ford plant in 2003. I am on the right side and by me is the man who came from Detroit for the event and became the president of Ford.

How cool is that! Does having a 1948 F2 bought new and still in the same family count?

I wouldn't mind finding a good '86 F250 for around $2500..... 2500 Biden dollars is about $50 in real money.

The rings are perfect. We put oil in each cylinder to loosen up the engine. It had not been started for a year and the cyliners were dry. after it warmed up, no smoke at all and ran smoothly. Did not use it this year, I am waiting to install the rebuilt 1910 rear unit. With that the chasis will be correct (except for a small item or two.) I want the T as correct as possible before I leave this earthly home. I have someone in mind to be the caretaker for the next 60 years. (they are older than 14, so I doubt they would have it as long as I have. It is a fun T to drive.

I one of the 1948 photos, my father's 1946 Ford sedan is pictured. He bought it new in the summer of 1946. He knew the manager of the Twin City Ford plant and the man arranged for him to buy a new Ford. The 1946 Fords were hard to find and buy.

This is my favorite picture.

50 years later. Same car, same people.
