Speedway motors is having a pretty good sale on their glass setting channel. I have one of their repo brass windshield frames for my 12. Has anyone used their setting channel kits? From the pictures it looks like there is one piece that has the curved sides a straight piece and two short pieces? Are the pieces already formed to fit in the windshield?
Thanks
Mike

Re: Question about brass setting channel for brass windshield
I am following this with great interest. I too need to source the brass channel for my 12 Rands windshield. I do seem to recall someone complaining that the corner bends in this repro channel are not a terrific fit in the corners for an ORIGINAL Rands windshield. However, if you have the Mr. Roadster repro brass windshield frame it should fit nicely. But I am interested in other's experiences.

Re: Question about brass setting channel for brass windshield
Speedway Motors brass setting channel fits their repro frames. Not sure about original brass frames. I've made three brass windshields from SM and it's not an easy job. If you're interested I wrote a rather lengthy piece some time ago about the procedure. I'm pretty sure I've saved it. Email me if you need a copy.
Langs has different size bedding dies they use for forming the corners of the setting channel for different applications. If your corners don't match the radii of the repro frames, give Steve a buzz and see what you can work out.

Re: Question about brass setting channel for brass windshield
Be careful. Mine cracked when I installed the glass and also after I had the glass people install it. Also, on two others I used original glass channel.

I see others that have worked fine.Rich
When did I do that?

Re: Question about brass setting channel for brass windshield
Thanks guys… I just wanted to make sure the kit from SM had all the pieces pre bent that would fit their frames. I tried to get info from SM but didn’t get very far as to what it all looks like. The picture on their website shows only 4 pieces. I did talk to Steve over at Langs and he told me about his process for bending the glass channel. He did offer a good piece of advice about getting 1/4” glass to fit in the channel though.
