Snowmobile ski question

Post by tom_strickling » Tue Nov 22, 2022 3:03 pm

I just bought a 24 roadster with an Ossipee snowmobile conversion. The skis are about 6 inches farther apart in the back than they are in the front. I doubt this is OK where should they be? Parallel? Thanks

Can you adjust your tie rods to straighten it out? Maybe just the tow in on the wheels?

Have you ever gone downhill skiing? Beginners start out in the "snowplow" position with their skis toed-in a bunch, because it is more stable and gives them some ability to control their speed by varying the amount of toe-in.

Some toe-in of the Model T skis is probably a good idea, although 6 inches seems a bit excessive. Maybe contact the folks in the New Hampshire snowmobile club to see how much toe-in they run?

Nv Bob- Is that original paint on your skis? How about some photos of the back half and underside of your Snowflyer?

I would guess that you use the same tow in setting you use for tires. Do your skis have skegs on the bottom? I would think six inches might be excessive and you need to set your toe in for tires.

Nv Bob- Are you building two vehicles or are you using Snowflyer skis and spindles with a Snowmobile idler axle? if so, what are you using for a rear axle? What brand of track?

Tractor Glen sorta Frankenstein miss match of parts
Research and help from a couple gents in that wing of the hobby I'm in high desert of Nevada and found one of these setups and using best parts and some New pieces make it a complete unit
I do have most of two setups
Any idea why they remove front fenders

Nv Bob- I believe the front fenders were removed because they do not have the support where they would meet the aprons and runningboards. Also because they really would not be needed as fenders. Maybe removing the fenders also gave a better view of the skis. What extra parts do you have? If you need any part identified for a Model T A B or V8 Snowmobile, Snowflyer, Arps/Snowbird or Eskimobile just post a photo. I am pretty familiar with all parts and would be happy to help.
