I would sure like to see a clearer shot of the Rhododendron Store.
Clear enough to read the Telephone Pay Station sign.

In the last picture of the 1921 T, it hit something with left front bending the fender and the axel but it didn’t break the 1921 visored head light lenses.
In the picture of the T virs the railroad, it looks like the train was switching and shoved the knuckle coupler into the T and rolled the T under the train before the train could stop.

The first photo reminds me of what my dad told me about my grandad.
My grandad traded 300 bushel of corn for a model t touring car. He went around a corner too fast Ani upset and in the process ruined the top. This was in South Central Nebraska and every where they went that winter they had to wrap up in blankets to keep warm as there was no top or side curtains to deflect the wind or snow while riding along.

No! I am not ready. I have lived within 30 miles of the Pacific Coast in Southern California all my life. (Over 85 years). So I can get snow and cold when I go to the mountains and Desert warmth just a little farther. Going the other way, I can go surfing or fishing in the ocean. So I am very certain I am not ready for a long cold winter! :P

"In the last picture of the 1921 T, it hit something with left front bending the fender...."

It looks like it may have been driven almost straight into a high curb. Note the damage to the driver side rim, yet the wood wheels did not collapse. The body, fenders, and top appear to still be in good alignment, suggesting that the frame did not bend.

I wonder if that is Rhododendron, Oregon on the slopes of Mt. Hood? We stayed there in a time share about 20 years go. And I used to go skiing there when I visited an Aunt and Uncle in Lake Oswego back in the 1950's. In 1956, I hired on with Pacific Telephone and Telephone co in Glendale, California and retired from in 1991 after 35 years service. They were called Southwest Bell when I retired. Now called A.T.&T. In the old days, there would be only one telephone franchise an any geographical area. Then Cell Phones came along, and you can have any one of many. Things have sure changed!

No I didn't, however I worked on some Open Wire leads. You need to be sure to ground the wires before you work on them if they parallel high voltage electric, because they can pick up induction and give you a shock. Not a problem if they are working lines, but if you disconnect them, they can shock. We also transposed the wires at specified intervals to keep induction to a minimum.
Lot of fun, but since most of that wire was retired a long time before I was and I have been retired over 30 years, I have forgotten some of what I knew at the time. I learned how vacuum tubes worked and now they are obsolete! Everything is now digital electronics.

Thank you for posting these wonderful pictures of history. I especially like the photos with people in them. It's fun to study the time of year, the clothes, their looks, and wonder what was going on in their life that day. Photos with people in them are really like space-time events - and its amazing what you can see when taking the time to study the details.

The difference is, today’s women are prettier and today’s fashions compliment the woman’s figure and are a lot easier on the eye. Jim Patrick

The people who are smiling in the pictures look a lot more approachable than the grim-visaged ones.
