How much a job is it to install a gas lamp hook up kit on a 1914 Model T Touring? Any suggestions will be appreciated.

you'll get your answer from respondents, but please do not use any copper AT ALL in the lines if you intend to actually use them with carbide. Acetylene gas and copper combine over time to make explosive salts. Additionally, any brass fitting of an alloy of greater than 66% copper should be avoided.

It's not something to fool around with.

Who is making a gas line a gas line hook up kit? I haven't heard of such a kit! And yes, the parts need to be brass.

After six years, the sun has pretty much trashed the red rubber tubing I used on my sytem. There was discussion a while back as to what kind of tubing is most like original, and/or available currently. Any updates ? I need to replace it while Lizzie is in for winter maintenance.

I went on Amazon for the red rubber gas hose. It is cheap from a scientific supply house (forgot the name, sorry).

Great point on the use of copper tubing . Lang's sell the kit, catalog " BL-T and it does contain copper tubing and parts. I don't intend using the lights but maybe another future owner would do so. Thank you to all the respondents to my post.

Wow ! That's a lapse ! Someone should point that out to them. When I re-plumbed the acetylene lines on my T, they sold rigid brass tubing in straight lengths, used for the gasoline line as well. I didn't check to see if they still carry that item.

I am working on a project (speedster) and am installing acetylene headlamps (nickel plated). Thinking about this I am considering using Stainless tubing. Quite available where I live. Anything I should be concerned about?

I'm working on my own kit now. I found some Tee's on ebay that I believe when I do some modifying will be the same as original. I'll see soon!

When installing the gas lamp tubing that I believe is around 8 feet long, how and where is it attached to the car, and does it remain straight or are bends required. Once attached hooking up the rubber hoses to it should be relatively easy.

I bought the brass tubing and red gas hose for my 1912 Flanders 20 from McMaster Carr. I couldn't find a one piece brass tee that would fit the tubing, so I ended up using a brass water plumbing tee with compression fittings. It doesn't look correct, but it works. I used my brake flare tool to bulge the tubing on the ends to help hold the hose. Some people solder a compression fitting onto the end of the tubing to make the bulge, it works just as well.

The vendors offer brass clamps for the hose ends and I bought some, but I haven't installed them. I'm pretty sure Ford didn't use clamps. Larry Smith will correct me if I'm mistaken.

Well, believe it Larry! It's listed as copper tubing in both Langs and Snyders. Reckon the best alternative is the brass fuel line as Rich said.

Yup. The online catalog clearly shows a coil of soft copper tubing.

We can either sale the kit with Brass or Copper tubing but we do not have a supplier for a correct looking Tee fitting out of brass tough.

If you would like brass tubing instead of copper let us know when you order the kit.

We will update the website shortly about the issue if you are going to make it functional and using copper.

i read the post that Steve Lang sent on Saturday that the gas Lamp Hook Up kit Lang's have listed in their catalog and Online can be ordered with either copper or brass tubing. I called this morning to order the kit with the brass tubing only to be told that the kits are not available at the present time due to problems getting some of the parts in the kit. i was asked to call in a week or so and they should have more information on the availability of the kit.

Hm - I better write to Langs and ask for just the brass tube. I bought the kit and was not aware of the issue with copper at the time of ordering. Returning it for swap will be to expensive and I can use the copper tupe for other applications.
