Last ride of the season

Post by Mountainrider » Wed Dec 07, 2022 5:03 pm

Had the 15 out last Sunday for one last ride of the season. Brought it down to Stockbridge Main Street Christmas. Enjoyment by all.

Looks like fun, I love the photo effects! Our last ride for the season was last weekend in our 27, a little over 80 miles from Philly to Mt Gretna.

It hit 82 F here a couple of days ago. It's been humid and mild since, with high 60s and low 70s. I did 53 miles today, and have covered about 260 miles in the last several days.

Here in S.E. Texas on the Gulf Coast it’s been in the mid 80’s the last 3 days. Time to get the T’s out for Winter rides….😊

Seasons are real different in the southwest. We tend to not run in the summer as it is so hot. We have a school industrial revolution
presentation and a tour in January and I just booked a parade for February for the Firetruck. I do envy the summers in the North East.
Keep on T'n.
Craig.

Craig, don't envy the NE summers! A "bad" weather day in most of AZ (at least in the Phoenix area) is always as good or better than a good day in the NE. You're kinda like Australia, our winter is your summer! At least you get sunshine like about 300 days a year compared to us! Even on a cool-ish January day there would be comfortable in an enclosed car. It's sunny for once here today, but only 38 degrees...too cold for even the Fordor.

A water pump and hot water heater would make the fordor cozy.

38. That is not even cold unless it is windy. We have 2 guys north of here that drive their depot hacks all year. Of course they are wearing snowmobile suits, but the weather does not stop them. I would love to drive the touring back and forth to Menards, but the amount of salt they put on the roads makes our streets like the Bonneville Salt Flats. It is a lot of fun to drive on a crisp cool day with the ground covered with snow.

Our last ride of the season was the FIRST ride for my wonderful and long suffering wife in our recently finished 1911 touring restoration! We didn't get a picture during the drive, so I took this one before I drained the remaining gas and put it up on jacks. I already did that to our 15 runabout earlier today. An extensive cold spell is heading for the plains later this week, so I decided to put these two cars in hibernation for the season before it got freezing cold in our garage.

For the eagle eye readers, that is not a MAGA hat hanging on the wall; it is a "make fishing great again" hat that my wife rescued from my late father in law's garage wall! :D

Might not have been the last ride. I’ve been rebuilding a Stromberg LF carburetor and I’m almost done. I’m not waiting for the spring rains to wash away the salt for a test ride.

Took the TT ‘Uff Da’ out last night all decked out with 3000 lights to travel throughout the neighborhoods near us. Didn’t go into the parade as it was raining so went out last night. Will probably go again before Christmas.
Also have been using our 22 touring for shopping etc. and will till the salting starts. Wonderful fun in wonderful old vehicles!

Salt destroys automobiles.
