Has anyone powder coated their running boards?

I attended a car show this weekend. My car, a 1923, Fordor, Black is not show quality but is a great driver. I drove it the 32 miles to and from the show without any problems. The biggest wear issue on the car is the paint on the running boards. It wears off and shows signs or rust. I pulled them off last night and I'm considering taking them to powder coating. I want kids and people to be able to climb on the boards and view the interior of the car without concern for wear. Is this a viable option?

I had mine powdercoated, they look great and match the rest of the paint perfectly. I have an aluminum step plate and am careful to use it, so I can't comment on whether the powder coat will hold up to wear better than paint or not.

Would believe powder coat will be good, the ‘27 has acrylic enamel paint, going on 14 years now, only the tops of the diamonds in just where the foot steps is missing, not enough to distract from my driver

I had the running boards on my white speedster powder coated in 1995 and the tops of the diamonds
are starting to show some wear now. This car has seen lots of use since I built it.
If the running boards were black I am not sure you would even see this wear.
In my mind the only way to go. About half the metal on the speedster is powder coated and has held up well.

I had mine done in 2006 and have used the car quite a bit since. It's time to do them again now.

That's a good place for powder coating.
