When I see pics of the wood cab TT’s without a cowl, is there a hood former that the hood rests on?

Yes. It’s the steel firewall for Model Ts. TTs were introduced in ‘17-‘18 so they might have had wood firewalls but a few in ‘23 would’ve had the low steel firewall. Then, when a dealership sold a TT chassis in ‘24-‘27, they’d have a “high” steel firewall just like the cars.

So, is this why I see brass rivets around the perimeter of the firewall? I assume chafe welting was riveted on. So would the rear of the hood sat directly on the welting?

Early TT's were only sold as a chassis, latter TT's were available with open or closed cab bodies or as a chassis.
The firewall is the hood former for chassis, Ford bodies, and after market wood bodies.

Interesting running board brackets. I have not seen those in my perusing of the web.

be careful with making any conclusions from Artist Renditions

they can be hilariously wrong sometimes

They sure are some funky looking running board brackets. Unless it was a tried and failed thing.
Artist's renditions sure can hold some stunning mistakes like Scott mentions! Then other times, they're spot-on accurate.
We joke about this in another world also.
I'd imagine this is what your more used to. Me too. Best I can tell these two pics are from '24 or so TT here.
This driver's side running board was likely moved out to fit the Group 2 battery bought and they ran with it.
Group 1 is the standard size. Smaller.
That pic of the early TT chassis is gorgeous! Coil box ign switch, radius rods over the front axle and those funky brackets!

What are the partial brackets attached to the sides of the running board brackets in your pic? Is it part of the battery holder?
Two of my running board brackets have holes on same side. Guessing I have (2) of either the front or rear brackets on the same side?
