Snow foolin' !

We got some good snow years ago. It could drift to the fence post tops. These were taken in the '70s

This was January 1949 in Montrose, California, a suburb of Los Angeles. My teacher in 1948 had told the class we were going into another "Ice Age" The following January we had a foot of snow. The most I have seen in southern California except for the high mountains. A few years ago we were in "Global Warming". Now it is called, "Climate Change". That would cover any change. It is even a legend that there was in the days of the Vikings a, "northwest passage" when they could sail ships around the coast of North America. So I think weather has always ran in cycles.

Jay, any notions where this photo was taken? I don't know, could a Brownie take this good of a photo or did someone set the big camera up to take this excellent photo?
You can just about hear the squeaking seams in those fabric tops and I'd bet that Ford owner was happy he had the side curtains.
White crushed velour in the car behind. Swami sees a wet backside for the other car's owner.

The only true "constant" in the universe is "change".

The "climate" of our Earth was changing constantly from when it was a dusty cloud circling our forming sun. And it hasn't stopped changing since. It will continue to change until our dying sun expands and vaporizes our old planet? Or until the Andromeda Galaxy collides with the milky Way in about four and a half billion years? Depending on whether the billions of randomly colliding celestial bodies include or miss our solar system? Even IF they do not directly collide? The gravitational forces could collapse the Earth's orbit or throw it randomly into deeper space.

Human arrogance believes he has learned so much! In reality, he is just beginning to really learn. And if he isn't careful? He may lose most of what he has learned in the recent two hundred years.
Can mankind affect the Earth's climate? Most certainly!
Can he make a big difference? No way.
We could wage the worst war of our puny existence, set off thousands of nuclear bombs, kill half the life on the planet! The Earth wouldn't care. Most likely, life would realign itself in scattered areas around the globe. IF humanity were to barely survive that insanity? He might recover and help reseed the world. Maybe he would learn enough to appreciate the world. Maybe not. If mankind survived that century, he might be able to rebuild a better civilization in under another hundred years. Life would adapt to the radiation damage. And in a couple hundred years be better than ever.
IF mankind did not survive that insanity? The Earth wouldn't care. It might take a thousand years for life to adapt and cover the globe again. But it would do so.
The saddest thing about that scenario? If mankind kills himself off? Who is going to sit and enjoy a beautiful sunset?

Mankind needs to wake up quick! He needs to seek wisdom instead of wealth.
From wisdom comes the greatest riches the world has to offer!

Duane, from what I read it was the Knickerbocker Storm of 1922 which caused the roof of the Knickerbocker Theatre in Washington, DC, to collapse, killing 98 and injuring 133.
