So has anyone named their Model T ? Looking for some examples.

Well with my first T I had a name for it. Changed the name once my mentor told me my coils were no good. Then she became Ms Magnolia. Prior to that upgrade the name, and I’ll only reveal the initials, was MFPOS. I was 40 plus years younger & very irreverent.

Fubar is just about right. In those days parts were hard to find, JC WHITNEY had a few things and I was newly married & broke. In a way I miss those days, the hunt, the find and the make do until something better was found if you could afford the part. That was letter writing days and phone calls locally. If you really needed the part you may even spring for a long distant phone call but you’d have to be desperate.

My mom called my '25 Touring "Bessie". I call it "Old Thing". My wife calls it "Lottie". A friend of mine calls it "Big Blue". No wonder the car doesn't come when you call it!

I call mine Charlie Chaplin.
In 1916 the model T was well into transforming the transportation industry single-handedly. At the same time Chaplin was the driving force at transforming the entertainment industry. Ford and Chaplin were both the wealthiest in their professions.

When I got my first one, the wheels started to shimmy on the way home. I yelled,"Woah Nellie" That one was a 26 Roadster. The next one is a 26 Touring I restored from a pile of rusty parts. I decided to name it a male name, so it is "Harrison Ford". The third one is a 22 Runabout and looks kind like a cat in heat, so it is "Ms Kitty"

This is Henrietta. She was last registered in 1956 to Henrietta L.F. Webb. Mrs Webb was known as Florrie, from her third name Florence. I think Henrietta is far more appropriate.

I have decided to name my 1915 Touring Bernice (One that brings victory).....it was also my Grand Mothers name and she was born in 1916 so that's close enough on the date for me. She has been gone for so many years now and the cars she grew up with are a nice reminder of the people who experienced life back in the day when our cars were new. I have a feeling my Grand Mother would approve of this and she is smiling

I also think she would like the new white tires I just got as they were period correct

It took me almost a year to name my 1913 Runabout. I think she is beautiful and windy while driving, I finally named her ‘BREEZY’ aka a HOTTIE, that is Pretty breezing while diving her

I have seldom named any of my vehicles.
I was prodded at length to name my '24 runabout.
I purchased the car knowing that it had been built up from parts of several years:
1922 chassis and engine
1924 fenders
1925 front portion of runabout body
1923 or earlier rear half of runabout body
Spare tire carrier from a sedan or touring
Top sockets, bows and top from 1926 runabout
and probably other anomalies I have forgotten.

I used to joke that the car was built up from floor sweepings.
I named it Sweepy.

Named it Mighty - So when someone asks "What did you name your T, I say Mighty. Then when they ask again "Yes what's the name of your T", I say Mighty its a speedster. And when the say "I can see that but what do you call it" So I say Mighty
again and then I ask them "So what's the name of your T, Abbott?" .......It takes awhile.

I named mine Betsy completely by accident (or at least a close call). When I first got the car and was learning to drive it, I took a friend out for a drive. On part of the route we had to cross a local road with a 60 mph speed limit. I reverted to my modern car habits and started across without waiting for an extra large gap in the cross traffic. As we were crossing at Model T low pedal speeds, I yelled "Come on, Betsy!" and we barely made it across safely.

We named my '23 Touring George Bailey. Yes I know the car in the movie was a Dodge Bothers. (See below, It sold a while back from up the road
from me in Loveland CO) But we all think it looks like his car. I bought the car in an online auction from a museum that had it donated from a guy that was rebuilding it and got sick. Had to go live with his daughter. Anyway, I was going though some paperwork the other day and found the guy that donated it was named Bedford. As in Bedford Falls. So it stuck.

We named our 1915 touring car after my wife's mother. Esmarelda... Has a nice antique name that suits the old girl....
The photo was taken at the Mississippi Cruisin' the Coast event last Oct. Out of 9,000+ registered cars, it was the oldest one on the street!

Our 11 Torpedo is "Aunt Sally" named after the previous owner

I call the Fordoor "The Fordoor" but my wife wanted to name it "Sharona" because it was purchsed during Corona (which rhymes) and we are both fans of the TV show MONK.

My Grandfather purchased his first and only car in November 1925. His name was BERT SAVAGE so it was appropriate to have a license plate to honor him. BERTS, showing off while being filmed for a movie in 2018.

Nothing cute or clever.....I named my car Arthur. I believe the owners for the first 50 years (father and son) were both named Arthur as was my grandfather (who died before I was born) who worked for Ford from 1916 to 1946. My mother was raised in Highland Park and I guess it is safe to say they were a Ford family...

My Canadian 1912 is a pinkish red colour and
a Canadian Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae wrote
"In Flanders Fields", so I call her Poppy.

We call our 1914 brass open express truck "Huckleberry"...or just "Huck" the truck. We named it after one of our five little rescue dogs, Huckleberry.

When I purchased the car from the Model T Haven I thought I’d call her Dorothy. Obviously because she’s not in Kansas anymore.
Now that the car is in pieces all over the place I guess I will have to wait until its on the road and see what kinda personality comes out.

For my 1916 touring I borrowed (stole) a most fitting name from an EAA aircraft. The name is Ophelia Bumps (Oh feel ya bumps).

Not a T but my grandpa used to call his A "The Machine" Before I was born he had a T and probably called it a Machine. That T was the one he drove from Los Angeles to Plymouth Rock and up to Ontario Canada and back one summer. They took a tent and camped wherever the landed at the end of the day.

I always enjoy these posts on naming the Ts. Some are very creative, all are unique to each one and its owners, and show lots of affection.

Mine was already christened "My Liz" when I acquired her, so adhering to the nautical superstition that it's bad luck to change a vessel's name, "My Liz" she remains, though more commonly, just "Lizzie".

I do have a reputation for creative names, however. Our mares are "Babe" and "Doll", a sheep dog named "Shep", and a cat named "Tom".

When I bought my 1910 in 1946, it was titled as an 1909, so I refered to it as the "09" . When I found out it was an 1910, I stil called it the "09"for several years. Then I caled it "The T". When I bought a 1916 center door, the 1910 became the "10" again. After all these years and owning other Model Ts, the 10 touring is now "My 10". The 1931 standard Model A Roadster is :The Roadster" and my 1931 wide bed Model A pickup is "The Pickup".

This is Miss Molly. That was the name given to her by the previous owners and I feel no need to rename her. She is a sweet coupe. She runs very nicely on mag with original coils. My wife prefers her over our 30 Tudor Model A.
