When I found my 26 Model T and checked the serial numbers, I found that the engine was a 1922 build.
I was able to acquire a block with serial number for 1926 but it will be for a backup engine.
During the teardown I noticed that the pedal trim plate had been cut up and a new slot was
cut for the C pedal and the original left slot was empty. AT the time I had no clue why. Now I know.
I purchased a new pedal trim for 1926/27 and the C pedal slot is spaced farther away and the
C pedal on my transmission will not line up. Is it possible to put a different C pedal unit in the
existing transmission so it will align with the new trim plate. Any help would be appreciated.

If earlier type pedals are put on a 26-27 hogshead, will the pedal spacing and positions be the same as the earlier models?

My first model T, was a 1920, with a post 26 replacement engine. The left pedals chewed into the cardboard cowl lining. I later replaced the left and right peadal, with those correct for a 1920, and solved the problem. The replacement pedals worked out just fine.

26-7 pedals are very different. The low speed and brake have a larger offset section to space them out further. Reverse stays the same. You can fit early pedals to a late hogshead or vice versa and you will maintain the correct spacing.

Yes it is possible to change out the pedal.
Its not clear what C pedal you have. 26-7 clutch & brake pedals have a wider more foot friendly pedal top and the clutch pedal is spaced further left. You need the later pedals. Late pedals can be put in an earlier HH or you can replace the whole HH with a 26-7 unit. However, the engine block mounting ears must be modified (cut off or severely ground) to fit a 22 block.

You can also get in trouble with the high gear link on the other end of that 1919 to 1925 clutch pedal, if you upgrade an early engine with a transmission cover that has provisions for a starter.

I just upgraded a never starter 1917 to a 1920 starter transmission cover.

The 3440 Part Number in the Ford Catalogs are the same and the photo is the same from the oldest catalog I have with photos, a November 1920.

The starter and Bendix was installed and functioned properly with a test run, without the cover, but that lower clutch link was hitting the Bendix spring and there was no slack for the cover.
