It’s been a while since I needed any, but what would a set of Stutzman clincher style wheels cost? Anyone purchase a set recently?

Bill, if you mean having them re-spoked, as I recall, the last 3 that I had done a year ago were right around $164 each.

I just had Stutzman rebuild a set of wheels for my 1912. All four, with shipping, was just under $1200. I consider it a screaming bargain. I imagine if your wheels are the non-wood felloes that the cost is probably lower.

How long was the wait, and did you have your rims/hubs already blasted and repainted when you shipped them?

Where can I buy new rims for my 1910?

I have a set of hubs. The front are 5 1/2 inch sze and the rear 6 inch reworked straight axle hubs to take tapered axles. Rather than dismantle the wheels on the 1910, I would like to buy new rims and have new wheel spokes and rest made and assembled.

From the time Stutzman received my parts, it took about 5 weeks to get them back. I had bought a 1912 Roadster that was being re-restored and the previous owner had bought new rims years ago and had hubs and hub flanges ready to go. Have you checked with Lang's on who makes the rims nowadays (or if they even do)? I thought I saw them in their catalog.

Coker. Fronts and rears are both $214. Before spending that kind of dough I would look for originals, starting with the used parts guys (Bob Bergstadt, Ron Paetz, the Neunhoffers, etc.) and then the other parts dealers. Also meets (Hershey, Iola, Chickasha, Tulare, Luray, etc.).

I have had Stutzman's rebuild all 4 wheels on the 15 runabout that I restored, and one of the wheels on the 11 that I just finished restoring. In each case I think that it was about 3 weeks for them to rebuild them. The runabout wheel parts I had primed and painted, but that was a mistake because they will get scratched up by them during the rebuild process. The 11 wheel I just sent primed parts. It too came back scratched, but was no big deal because I was going to paint it anyway. The parts might fare better if they were powder coated, but I don't know if that would cause some fit issues on the hub pieces upon assembly.

I took 2 wheels to Ohio 18 months ago. I had the hubs and rims cleaned up and repainted. Maybe they should have been in primer. The wheels came back perfect. They were sanded better than I could do. All I had to do was paint them and that put a second coat of paint on the rims n hubs. I know it was not expensive. I think it was just under $400 for two wheels including shipping. He let me put it on a credit card as well, if I remember correctly. When the wheels were done he called and I paid.

The 20" TT wheels are heftier and were a little more, but I recall the Stutzman
bill was about $1100 for fronts and rears (4), with return shipping. Noah's got a
better shipping rate than I got sending the parts to him ... I think that was about
$400. Add in sandblasting and powdercoating, I figured I was about $1700 deep,
all said and done.

There's an outfit in New Zealand that makes them but I forget their name. Affordable even with the shipping. I'd even bet that's where Coker gets 'em...but maybe they also make them. You'd have to ask.

I've visited Coker's shop in Chatanooga where they make the wheels, and they do nice work. Make complete wheels for other brands of cars not just for T's. It's worth a trip to see their tire shop, wheel shop, and Corky's car and motorcycle collection. They are just off I 24.

Coker was able to roll form the clincher rims also. Nice work.
