Where do I stick my tacks?

This is a picture of the driver's side rear side panel area. (where the door latches) If I put my tacks that hold the interior panel on the main part of the wood they will be about an inch from the edge. Or are the tacks supposed to go through the holes in the metal and then into the wood?

Frank, I've seen the channel on some cars and some without. When talking to another 26 T owner before He said that the earlier 26 Bodies didn't have them same with the vertical piece of sheet metal strip that gives support to the middle of the panel. Do you think they all had them and mine are missing?

Frank, Thanks so much. I've seen the post of the car with the white interior. Those channels would make it easer for sure. I'm going to give Classtigue a call and ask to see if the channel was a mid year change. I bet they are hard to find. I may have to go without. As always everyone is so helpful. Without this Forum a lot of us would be lost. Nice to have experienced guys around.

My opinion!
It can be said Ford used a general guideline in how the interiors and attachments, screws, tacks and etc were put in. But to say each car was exactly alike in how it was done coming off the assembly line may be a stretch. Different craftsman and different shifts may have done things pretty close but not exact. Ford wasn’t building a Rolls Royce, or a high end car.

But again that’s only my opinion and over the years working and seeing other T’s I’ve come to the conclusion that if you can restore a T 95% correct you’ve done pretty well.

John, I bet you're right. I'm going to go with using tacks and try to make them look ok. Although once I'm done with the interior I may get moved back to tires on the assembly line.
