Bolt Question

I'm trying to help a friend get his firewall on his '14 installed correctly. I don't feel like pulling anything from my cars to answer his question. So here is one that I believe maybe true. Is an early 5/16 running board bolt the same one that is used for the frame to firewall brackets, 3 on each side. If this is correct, I think Randall Anderson was making them?

Perhaps I shouldn't reply, since I bought my Lizzie as an older restoration. I can't vouch for the originality or authenticity, but what she's carrying to bolt dash to frame supports are the same 5/16" step bolts used to bolt the dash to the body brackets. Perhaps my running board bolts are wrong ? They appear to be a common 5/16" carriage bolt.

Of course period bolts are different from modern hardware - generally more robust. Also note the hex nuts are 9/16" OD and "thick".

Hope this is helpful.

Going over Lizzie for winter R&R I was annoyed to find the dash-to-frame bracket bolts were 'way loose on the passenger side, and I'd lost the bottom one. Photo shows the difference between period nut and the chintzy modern replacement (1/2" OD).

These nuts are pretty well hidden by the hood former, my excuse for not noticing they'd loosened up. :o
