Special double socket wrench tool for tightening pan bolts

Post by mgarrett » Mon Jan 30, 2023 4:57 pm

I've only seen a couple of these special wrenches - sorry I don't have a pic. Works like a brace and bit. Anyone own one of them and do they actually work?

I have managed to find three, all different. They work, although a bit awkward. Obviously not with engine pans.

Dave, I thought that was their purpose...to tighten the pan bolts using only this special tool. Did I miss something? :D

Like Dave said, there are several sizes of these things. Years ago I thought they were "T" specific...turns out not so, or at least "not so" for all but one size...

I seem to recall an advertisement for one on pans, but again, there are several different ones for different size nuts/bolts, so while that may be ONE use, there are others.

No problema - I think the one that was given to me works on Model T engines to grab the pan bolts and nuts from both sides while tightening in one operation. I can see where this would be a great time-saver when removing and re-installing. I really love these fascinating old tools.

I have seen 2, one of which I have in my collection. I would post a picture but not sure I know how.
