I have to laugh, a speedometer for a Model T that goes to 75 MPH? That's optimism!

Reminds me of when they built the Arroyo Seco Parkway between Los Angeles and Pasadena. It was the first freeway built in the area around 1940. My dad was driving the 36 Ford V8 and commented to my mother,"We are going 45 MPH" I said, "Why don't you go 70?" My mom's jaw almost fell off! She said, "that's too fast! No one would ever go that fast." She lived to see the 70 MPH speed limit!

After High School I worked in a restoration shop that did a lot of classic cars: Duesenberg, Auburn, etc. We had a 1934 coffin nose Cord, front wheel drive, turbo charged, and a plaque in the glove box certifying that it had been test driven by Barny Oldfield to something like 129 mph. One of the employees took it out on the freeway and got it above 90 mph before coming to his senses.

Coffin nose Cords were 1936 and 1937. I have seen one that had a plaque on the dash that stated the same.

Ok, 36, or 37 sounds right. I drove that car too, just not above 45 mph. Nice car.
