OT but Model T related
Tomorrow I get a electric spinal cord stimulator installed. This is similar to a pacemaker. My concerns are can I drive a T and can I still use my arc welder? Any one have any experience or knowledge of this? If this solves my back pain, I can continue restoring My latest T project.

I knew a guy in his 50's who in 1983 had an auto accident and had to wear an external stimulator on his upper back. He went back to work. Recovering from the accident was the bigger concern.

I'll play "devils advocate" here and suggest you present these very good questions to your DOCTOR and not to a bunch of well meaning guys who certainly want to tell you what you want to hear, not what you NEED to hear! Sorry for being so blunt, but DO NOT screw around with your back/spinal system! It could lay you up for life. Just a concerned fellow T'er.

And forgot to also mention now that it also registered in my lame brain that you have already had the procedure, I certainly hope it all went well for sure. But again, heed my advice above, if you haven't already asked your doc. I'm sure you did!

Re: OT but Model T related
Had this done at 3pm yesterday. Today feel like a mule kicked me in my back. Doctor said I should not have problems with anything. Should know in a few days if it works.

Re: OT but Model T related
jim my prayers are with you;back issues are nothing to take lightly.-that being said, the advice to consult with your doc is certainly good advice, but the well-wishes of others in this group are a sign of the concern this bunch of folks has for you and should comfort you.medical science today borders on miracles compared to a generation or so ago...people complain about the cost, but look what can be done today.

Re: OT but Model T related
I asked a similar question about pacemakers (being fitted with one on 22nd) and got 2 useful links, one a FAQ from a manufacturer. You may be able to Google for a FAQ on your device.

Good luck with your recovery, hope it solves your problems.

Re: OT but Model T related
Thank's every one for the good wishes. Have had the trial unit for 6 days and it completely stopped my sharp pain. This will be removed Monday and will schedule me for the permanent unit inserted under my skin.

Re: OT but Model T related
Glad to hear things are working out for you. Unfortunately, when you pose questions like yours, doctors often are unable to answer them because they can't relate to what it is you want to do. The manufacturer might be a better source of info. If you ask how the units are effected by strong electrical fields you'll have covered most things you might encounter.
Regardless, all the best and hope to see you on the road this summer!
