After working on your Model T What parts do you have left over?

There has been a discussion on engine splash pans.

Some, begrudgingly, replace remove and replace the pans.

Others remove the pans completely and either discard, hang on wall, or sell. Left over parts.

Some will rebuild a starter or generator, motor, transmission and find that every thing is back together except a screw, gasket, or spring is found...it was removed but not placed back in position. Parts left over.

Any of you have parts left over?

After rebuilding three Model T’s I have enough spare parts to build all the mechanical running gear for number four!

My problem when reassembling isn't parts left over. It's trying to remember where I put the parts I need to reinstall. Where is my 1915 dash shield?

Generally, I don't have left over parts. Most of the time they are parts that jumped into the parts washer feeling lonely wanting to be with the rest of the group so when I get done, just think they are leftovers. ;)

When I inherited my '26 speedster I was told I had to take the rest of the leftover parts. Except tires and wheels, I should be able to assemble two additional chassis.

Only the parts you replaced should be left over. Do the work in a few days or you might be like me. I order new parts when I am putting things back together and then after I am all done, I find the new parts I had ordered when I took it apart a year ago! The worst thing to have happen is to find something that needed to go in first, such as the wire around the heads of the flywheel to crankshaft bolts and you have a 3 dip pan and everything else is together. Not the best case because you likely would not know until the flywheel and transmission get loose. Other things could be the inside oil line. So be sure to check everything step by step while you are assembling to be sure nothing necessary is left out.
