Our friend Jim (1934 - 2019) built and drove his 1919 Speedster for many years. He liked to tell folks it was a Mercury and was built with Ford chassis parts. Some magazine articles he kept with him made a very convincing story. The tale of it being a "bootleggers" getaway car that was chased from Nebraska to Arco, ID was always fun to hear. Jim had a story for every occasion.

These two photos were taken of his and my speedsters at Sun Valley, ID in 1987. We also had our Speedsters on the VF July-Aug 1980 cover.

This was a tour of the Tetons in 2011.

His 1911 Cadillac was supposedly "Hand Built", and no two Cadillac parts would interchange with another.
What would life be like without colorful characters?

Jim was full of fun and often appeared wearing some strange hat with google eyes.
