radiator filler neck and threads?

Greetings!
Last Christmas my wife bought me a fancy radiator temperature gauge, radiator cap with wings and a chrome radiator cover for my 22 T... She's always trying to make the T look like a deluxe limousine and far be it to me to argue with her at this point , )
The cap has yet to arrive, but when I look at the picture of that cap on Lang's (middle image) it shows male outside threads ? All other radiator caps online also seem to have outside threads. Now my poor ol' T has a strage history, coming from Argentina, and it has a lot of odd patches and non-stock changes over the years - At this point it has a very simple copper cap with female inside threads - (see top image) --- I looked across the web to see if their is some type of M/F adapter / gender bender that I can screw in between and I have found thats even close is a 'filler neck'... These do have the female threads on the top but they apparently needs to be soldered onto the radiator ???
Anyone recognize my radiator cap? is it possibly from a tractor? Anyone know of a screw on filler neck?

Here is a motometer from the Model A section of Snyder’s antique auto parts, which has female threads on the cap and male threads on the neck. I assume that your radiator cap is for a model A, but I could be wrong if the cap size and TPI is different from a Model A. All I do know is that it is not for a Model T. Jim Patrick

Yes a photo will help. By your description you radiator neck has been changed. A standard T radiator neck has female threads and the cap is male. Your is opposite.

That's an aftermarket radiator. I'm sorry to say that your new motometer will not fit it. Maybe an adapter can be made??

or replace the neck with new or used correct neck and don't worry about adapters...

Aftermarket eah? Makes sense with this car- Its a bit like the Johnny Cash Cadillac song ..."one piece at a time"... resourceful mechanics in Argentina... Thanks for clearing this up! I'll find a way to hack it in somehow - might just machine a simple adapter ---

Its very easy to return things to Lang's. f they haven't shipped any part of your order call or email them about you r problem, & cancel. You just need to pay the shipping back to them to get a refund for he part (not the shipping fee)

Just drill a hole in the cap you have now for the motometer. Install the wings after you redo the radiator.

try looking at california custom roadsters site.click on cooling then caps and ornaments. might have something to work for you. good luck

Return the Model T motometer for a Model A motormeter to see if it fits. Like Frank said, if it doesn’t fit, you can simply return it. Be sure to save all of the packing in case you need to return it. Jim Patrick

quick update:
It looks like the thread on the T radiator cap is is 2" 20 TPI - The model A thread is 2.25"-18 TPI - so regrettably that may not work -
Drilling the hole in my existing cap is a good option! get's me the temperature - which is the higher priority -
I'm also looking into possibly machining a simple coupling with an inside 2-20 thread... OR - buy the filler neck and try soldering it on - OR - somehow using a lathe and putting a 2-20 female thread on the inside --- (Sadly, I'm retired and no access to our walk in shop lathe)
and thanks for the connection to the custom parts shop - I'll check that option out -

I'll be the wet blanket on this subject. I drive on country roads a lot. I use a stock radiator cap because I don't want a lot of extra weight vibrating on my radiator neck. I assume that a motometer damaging a radiator is uncommon, but I know it has happened.

If the radiator doesn’t leak and cools well I think the best thing to do is to put a Model T neck on it. It would be an investment since you have a good radiator to begin with. You’ll be better off in the long run and use your wife’s gift. You dont have to use the wings cap all the time but use a stock cap on bumpy roads.
