I have watched the various videos for removing the rubber stem from an inner tube and installing an original type metal stem. My question is: has anyone yet done that job on one of the new Blockley inner tubes ? Tubes are a little expensive to be experimenting with and I would prefer to hear somebody else's experience first.

The Blockleys have metal stems. I'm not sure if they are "original" size bit they are around 3 inches long and half inch diameter.

The Blocked metal stems are the more often used larger diameter ones than the ones used in T's. Plenty of Shraeder dust caps / fittings for these are available. Just not quite the bees knees for the purists.

Why can't an American company make tubes correctly? I have two examples of Firestone tubes made back in the sixties. If they could do it then, why not now?
The next statement is the the valves. If the Model A guys can do it, why can't we? They are making the correct valves stems for Model A's, which are the same diameter as our T's. I guess the antique tire and tube companies just don't care enough to do it right?

Bang on, Original. Not only have they not cared to do valve stems as original for T's, they have made tyres that crack in the sidewalls long before they are worn out. Those same tyres wear nowhere near as long as their predecessors.They make tubes which don't hold air and fall apart at the seams.

Blockley have addressed these quality concerns with their tyres and tubes, and they are to be commended for this. I can wear the minor difference in the valve stems they use. Just bite the bullet and get yourself a set of Dill valve/dust covers with the sliding thread insert, period correct, easy to fit on/off, and fit any valve stem.

Blockley does a far better job of attaching a brass stem to their tubes than any of you can. It's a quality product that stands on it's own merit. I bought caps from Langs and am very happy with the result.
