HEADS UP about emails

I have been getting some emails from members that start off saying “just forward some pictures “ or pictures posted by that member.
I have read these are scams. I just deleted them. This is a warning to watch for them .
And if you get a email saying that from me delete it.
I am not sending emails with pictures unless you ask me for something.

I put Angel up for sale,and I got SO MANY scam emails from it I ended up selling her locally on the HCCA site and STILL got Scammed from a local guy in Redding who got a lot of my goodies (like my original RAJO set up) for less than what my 15 was worrth.... Seriously, if I didn't love old cars to my core I would totally give up on the hobby... but the more I think on it, the more I'm willing to take this love ov my life for 50 of my 62 years and stuff it all.

EVERYONE wants to me a "picker" or a "Scammer" and I am just about done. The last one - having to evacuate because we moved overseas, and a local HCCA member (and chapter officer) taking advantage of it to eff me over - I am freaking tired of it.

Now here I am in Italy, with nothing of my family's history, and all these "club members" are laughing their butts off at me, because they got one over on me...

SERIOUSLY.... Is THIS what our hobby has become?

Now, for folks who do not apparently understand the common meaning of "scammer", it is not usually applied to legitimate buyers who underpay at an agreed-upon price to a willing or desperate seller for items listed at a "fire sale".

Someone needs to look up the definition of "sellers remorse".

I was just trying to give anyone a heads up that it may not happen to anyone here.

Sadly Susanne, that is how the whole world has gone! This wonderful hobby could not remain immune forever. I am fighting a half dozen used to be major and mostly honest companies over screwed up by THEM business dealings. THE government hasn't been OUR government for a few decades now. There is no more consumer protection in fact (only in name? And barely even that?).
Most people in this hobby are still good and honest! Probably the last bastion of decency left in this country!

I do hope you are finding what you are looking for in Italy!

As for the scam emails? I too have been receiving a bunch of them. All of the ones I get claim to be from one of our many regular posters here, and a personal friend. I know him well enough that I knew they were not from him, and never did open one of them (the "Re" wasn't in his style!). I did email him, and he replied back confirming it wasn't from him and that he had heard of someone else receiving a similar scam-mail.
I have no idea what the scam is about? But be careful out there people!

I've been receiving SPAM and scams for ages, like everybody else. But recently a new wrinkle has appeared — phishing or scam emails purportedly sent by me! What??? Why would I be sending that crap to myself? Is that supposed to make me so curious that I click on the link to see what it is? Not gonna happen. DELETE.

To expand a bit on Dan's comments...do keep in mind that also some of these scam emails, but not all, may have an attachment. DO NOT ever ever ever click on that! Once you do, you're done! They got ya. And everything that's on your hard drive. Might as well take the computer to a store and have the drive either replaced or totally cleaned and it's then like starting out with a new computer. But they still got all your passwords, etc. It's worse than losing your wallet with the credit cards in it. The best advice like Dan and others say, if you don't recognize the author, or "invited" them to your computer delete it right from the inbox page. Don't even click on the mail itself, someday they'll figure out how to even MAKE THAT a way to access all your data.
