New clincher rims from “Vintage rims “ in Australia.

I just had the 4 brand new rims delivered from Australia and they are beautiful. A big thank you to Allan, down under, for mentioning the company that made them. They are nice and heavy with a zinc plating everything is so smooth. If you want some excellent rims, check them out. The only problem I had, was getting the packing tape off. I have not had any tape that was so sticky. Will have find out where it was made. Delivered right to the door with no hassle what so ever. Now to mount my new Blockley tires!

When you mount them to the felloes, you may find that it's hard to get all four rim bolts installed. The original Hayes rims had one lug with an oblong hole to make it easier to install the fourth bolt. I had to take a rat tail file to one of my lugs on each rim to add that oblong hole feature.

I have in the past told of the vintage rim company in Christchurch New Zealand. They used to sell rims through most of the dealers in the US.
This firm has sadly closed now and I believe the equipment for production was sold to a firm in the Isle of Man, UK.
Glad to hear we still have the Aust company in production

I recently got two 21" split rims from Australia. He had them in stock and only took 8 days to reach Nebraska. Easy transaction and very pleased with the rims.

Mark is correct about the need for the lug nearest the valve stem hole needing to be elongated a little downwards and to the right. Then the rim/ tyre assembly is fitted a little askew with the valve stem in place, and rotated into position. On Chevs, the valve stem is much closer to the nearest lug, and that lug had to be slotted to enable fitting. That is an easy way to tell a Chev rim from a Ford rim
You can fit the rim without the mod to the lug hole by tapping the bolt back through the felloe.
I spoke to Steve at Vintage Rims, and you may find new orders already modified on later orders.
