Re: Final set of Chickasha pictures
It would have been fun to visit with you Mike, but I couldn't justify the trip. The last two times, the attendance has been less than half of what it once was.

Hi Larry. It would've been great to visit with you. It has gotten smaller, but the crowd that comes is there is serious about their restorations. I'll keep going to help it keep going.

Re: Final set of Chickasha pictures
DO NOT read Larry’s post and think the trip is not worthwhile. Quantity of vendors are less than half what they were fifteen years ago, but it is still one of the top meets for early parts. I drive 1,900 miles round trip to buy and sell there. I sold enough small items off a 6’x6’ table in 1+1/4 days to pay expenses for the entire trip and bought almost $2k of good stuff at probably 20 cents on the dollar. AND…. I got to see and carefully examine everything I bought BEFORE I bought it, and so did everyone else there. Also did not have to pay any shipping or package and ship anything.
The people that stayed home didn’t get anything.

Yes, it has. More of the spaces are empty than filled. But I sold enough to pay for the space and the trip. I would go even if I were just shopping, because it's also about visiting, not only buying and selling. The meet may fold from lack of attendance, but it's not bad enough to make me quit yet. I'll stick it out for at least one more time, maybe more. Staying away won't make it any better.
The inevitable often happens.

Re: Final set of Chickasha pictures
Adam, I agree. The attendance is off, but I have never went and not sold enough to pay for the spaces and trip, as well as making enough to get everything I bought basically free. We camp on the spaces, so we are there every minute available to shop and sell. I have sold stuff as late as 10.30 PM. Staying on the spaces also leaves extra money available that is not spent on a motel room. The bull/crap sessions in the evening are worth the trip. I'll also be there till it folds up or I fold up. And we will always be one of the last to leave. The vendors that leave early are in my opinion the thing hurting the swap meet the most. See ya'll next year .........
